Introduction

Scholastic Aptitude Test is a test of verbal and mathematical reasoning. It's still going to get you into great schools with 'SCHOLARSHIP’. It’s not difficult it's just based to a greater extent on your analytical skill than TOEFL or IELTS.

Types: There are three types of SAT; SAT I, SAT II and New SAT

SAT I - Reasoning Test

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) is a reasoning and Intelligence Test which focuses on Verbal (English) and Quantitative (Mathematics). SAT I Score helps the students to compare reasoning abilities and academic strength which will help students in deciding whether they need to take an additional course or do more independent studying to succeed in US Colleges and Universities. Students us the SAT I score to apply for scholarships in US Colleges and Universities. Most undergraduate Programs require minimum score of 1800 for the Scholarships.

Critical Reading : 200-800
Writing : 200-800

Writing -3 sections (Total 49 multiple choice questions +1 written essay)
Essay section -25 minute for 1 essay
Improving sentence, improving paragraphs and identifying sentence errors 25 minute for 35 questions.
Improving sentence 10 minute for 14 questions.
Critical Reading- 3 sections (total -67 questions; 19 sentence completions and 48 Passage-based questions)
Sentence completions and passage based question -25 minute for -24 questions
Sentence completions and passage based question -25 minute for –24 questions
Sentence completions and passage based question -20 minute for -19 questions
Mathematical reasoning – 3 sections (total-54 questions; 44 multiple-choice questions and 10 student- produced response questions)
25 minute for 20 questions
25 minute for 18 questions
20 minute for 16 questions
Total testing time: 3 hours, 45 minutes

Registration Process: SAT registration is made with online applications through www.collegeboard.com Pay with a credit/debit card: American Express®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard®, or Visa®. Or Himalayan Bank, Nabil Bank etc. with student’s profile and identification (PP, Citizenship etc) certificates. The registration fee is 63.5 US $ + NRs 500 bank charge for SAT I.

Score Reports: When you register for the SAT I, you may identify upto four schools that should receive official score reports on your behalf. These scores are included in the Test Fee. A student copy of the score report is sent to you separately.

SAT II- Subject Tests

Introduction

The SAT II is Subject Tests are one hour tests which measure a student's knowledge of a particular academic subject in high school and the ability to use that knowledge. It is primarily a multiple- choice test in specific subjects, such as English, History, Social Science, Mathematics and others. Usually only the most competitive undergraduate schools require scores from the SAT II. Students normally select three tests (one hour each) in one sitting. Subject test are offered in the following areas.

While you are free to choose any three tests you wish, some colleges may identify at least one or more subject Tests that you should take. The SAT I and SAT II can not be taken on the same test date.

The New SAT

The new SAT is a Test of Mathematical and Verbal Reasoning, which is an entry and scholarship requirement in the most of best and highly ranked institutions in the USA . The New SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800 (for Math, Reading and Writing) amounting to a total score of 2400 and typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. The essay which is graded by two examiners is scored on a scale of 1-6(low to high). The New SAT comprises 4 sections; Critical Reading /Verbal Section, Writing, Essay writing and Mathematics. The Test format is paper based and the scores are valid for Maximum 5 years.
